My project was to repair and paint my swimming pool. The bottom is cracked, so water is seeping out and the paint work is faded and some places non-existent.
It was too awkward a shape to measure properly, I do know it takes 69,000 litres of water to fill.
One of the biggest problems I had, was what paint to use. Most paints I looked at were quite expensive and no guarantee they would last, so I spent quite some
time asking around and I had a pile of recommendations what to use etc.
After talking to the guys from KBS-Coatings, taking their advice and help in trying a novel approach in the repair and painting of the pool.
So we used 12 litres of AquaKlean to thoroughly clean the pool, allowed it to dry, then used 16 litres of RustBlast to etch it, then washed it down until only a trace of powder
was left. Then left it to dry for few days, luckily it was the middle of summer so I didn't have to wait too long.
So far I had spent $343 which wasn't too bad, the big expense was to come, (or so I thought).
One coat of RustSeal off white was then applied to the pool, allowed to dry and become just tacky, then applied a coat of DiamonWhite, one of our new products, this a brilliant white,
so it allowed us to see where we had missed in our painting over the off white.
Now came the experimental part, to the remaining 15 litres or so, we added some blue 2 pack paint, just enough to turn the white into a nice shade of light blue. Then a third
coat was applied and allowed to cure and water was slowly added. It is now three months since it was done, and the pool has been used regularly and no deterioration so far.
The cost of this part was $1300.00 which turned out to be far less than what I expected, so far I am very pleased with the result but only time will tell.
I will advise every three months on the condition of the pool.
